Jun 6, 2026News Briefingwww.cicnews.com

Alberta issued 1,550 invitations to apply for provincial nomination across seven Alberta Advantage Immigration Program draws held between May 20 and June 2, 2026. The draws targeted candidates in several in-demand sectors, including manufacturing, technology, agriculture, construction, and other priority pathways.

As of the time of the article, Alberta had conducted 43 provincial immigration draws in 2026.

Latest AAIP Draws

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program published the draw results on June 2.

Across the seven draws, Alberta issued a total of 1,550 invitations to apply.

Invitations were issued through three streams, with the largest share going to candidates under the Alberta Opportunity Stream, which accounted for 64.1% of all invitations.

Several of the draws were the largest of their type so far in 2026, including:

  • The May 29 Express Entry Accelerated Tech round.
  • The May 27 Alberta Opportunity Stream selection.
  • The May 22 agriculture round under the Express Entry Priority Sector pathway.
  • The May 21 manufacturing round under the Express Entry Priority Sector pathway.

The May 20 selection also marked the AAIP’s first draw specifically targeting skilled trades linked to the construction sector.

To date, Alberta has invited at least 7,819 AAIP candidates to apply for provincial nomination in 2026. The Alberta Opportunity Stream accounts for a large share of this total, with 4,850 invitations.

2026 Alberta Nomination Allocation

As of June 3, Alberta had used 2,587 nomination slots from its 2026 federal allocation, leaving 3,816 spaces remaining.

The AAIP reported the following stream-by-stream nomination figures:

Stream or pathway 2026 nomination allocation Nominations issued Remaining nomination slots
Alberta Opportunity Stream 3,425 1,394 2,031
Rural Renewal Stream 1,000 480 250
Tourism and Hospitality Stream 150 100 50
Dedicated Health Care Pathways 500 112 388
Alberta Express Entry – Accelerated Tech Pathway 600 267 333
Alberta Express Entry – Law Enforcement Pathway 38 10 N/A
Alberta Express Entry – Priority sector draws/initiatives 600 213 387
Entrepreneur streams 90 17 73

The source table shows a mismatch for the Rural Renewal Stream, where the allocation of 1,000 and 480 nominations issued would not equal 250 remaining slots. The remaining figure is therefore unclear in the source.

Alberta has also used nomination spaces outside its regular Provincial Nominee Program allocation for targeted groups, including:

  • 50 practice-ready physicians.
  • 12 francophone candidates.

AAIP Expression Of Interest Pool And Pending Applications

As of June 3, Alberta reported 38,292 worker Expressions of Interest in its pool.

Of these, 63.4% were submitted under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

The province also listed 1,222 provincial nomination applications as awaiting processing.

The inventory by stream or pathway was:

Stream or pathway EOIs in the pool Applications awaiting processing
Alberta Opportunity Stream 24,276 469
Rural Renewal Stream 1,928 99
Tourism and Hospitality Stream 3,865 27
Dedicated Health Care Pathways 1,432 21
Alberta Express Entry – Accelerated Tech Pathway 2,149 333
Alberta Express Entry – Law Enforcement Pathway 65 N/A
Alberta Express Entry – Priority sector draws/initiatives 4,577 387
Entrepreneur streams N/A 251

Practical Implications

The latest AAIP activity shows Alberta continuing to prioritize candidates in sectors tied to labour demand, including technology, agriculture, manufacturing, and construction.

The Alberta Opportunity Stream remains the largest source of invitations and EOIs, while Express Entry-linked pathways continue to be used for targeted selections in specific sectors.

Candidates considering Alberta nomination should pay close attention to stream-specific inventory, remaining nomination allocations, and whether their occupation falls within a targeted sector.
