How candidates are considered

  1. Eligibility – A valid job offer is required for both NLPNP and AIP, except for NLPNP entrepreneur streams, which do not need a job offer.
  2. Expression of Interest (EOI) – Candidates submit an EOI through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal, detailing education, work history, language ability, and settlement plans.
  3. Prioritization – The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) ranks EOIs using its Expression of Interest Model, giving preference to factors such as:
    • Employment in healthcare, sales and service, or other targeted sectors
    • Placement in rural communities
    • Occupations with low provincial representation
  4. Draws – Periodic draws invite the highest‑ranking candidates. Invited candidates have 60 days to respond.
    • NLPNP – The employer files the nomination application.
    • AIP – The candidate files the endorsement application.
  5. Permanent residence – After receiving a nomination certificate (NLPNP) or endorsement (AIP), candidates apply to IRCC for permanent residence.

Processing times (as of August 10)

Application type IRCC processing time
Base PNP 13 months
Enhanced PNP 7 months
AIP 26 months

Additional considerations

  • EOIs remain valid for 12 months in the provincial pool. After expiration, candidates must submit a new EOI (or have their employer resubmit for AIP).
  • The OIM does not disclose which specific NLPNP streams the August 10 invitations covered.
  • Candidates should monitor the province’s EOI Prioritization Criteria webpage for updates to priority factors.
