The AIP is an employer‑driven permanent‑residence pathway for foreign nationals with a job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island). Candidates must also meet basic language, work‑experience, education, and settlement‑fund requirements.

Post‑draw pathways

  • Nomination or endorsement: Invited candidates may submit a complete application for provincial nomination (NBPNP) or endorsement (AIP). Successful nomination or endorsement allows the applicant to apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.
  • Employer‑specific work permit: AIP‑endorsed workers can obtain an employer‑specific temporary work permit while their PR application is processed.
  • Bridging open work permit (BOWP): Provincial nominees who have filed a PR application may be eligible for a BOWP. As of 9 June 2026, base‑PNP applicants can qualify for a BOWP before receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) for their PR application, under a federal temporary measure.

These draws reflect New Brunswick’s continued focus on filling labour gaps in construction, manufacturing, IT, education, health‑related services, transportation and other skilled trades, with particular attention to French‑speaking candidates and those already integrated into the provincial labour market.
