Canada has issued a new Express Entry invitation round for physicians with Canadian work experience, continuing a 2026 pattern of draws focused on candidates already connected to Canada through work experience or provincial nominations.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada issued 271 invitations to apply for permanent residence in the June 24 draw.
To be considered, candidates needed:
- A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 223
- An Express Entry profile created before 6:13 p.m. UTC on May 31, 2026
- Eligibility under the Physicians with Canadian Work Experience category
This was Canada’s second Express Entry draw in 2026 targeting physicians with Canadian work experience.
Express Entry draws in 2026
As of the article date, IRCC had conducted 33 Express Entry draws in 2026.
The June 24 physician draw followed two other June draws:
| Date | Draw type | CRS cut-off | ITAs issued |
|---|---|---|---|
| June 24 | Physicians with Canadian Work Experience | 223 | 271 |
| June 23 | Canadian Experience Class | 516 | 4,000 |
| June 22 | Provincial Nominee Program | 730 | 955 |
Earlier 2026 draws included large rounds for Canadian Experience Class, French-language proficiency, Provincial Nominee Program candidates, healthcare and social services, trades, senior managers with Canadian work experience, and physicians with Canadian work experience.
Draw types used so far in 2026
Canada’s Express Entry draws in 2026 have leaned heavily toward candidates already in Canada, especially those with Canadian work experience or provincial nominations.
| Draw type | Number of draws |
|---|---|
| Provincial Nominee Program | 12 |
| Canadian Experience Class | 10 |
| French-Language proficiency | 6 |
| Physicians with Canadian work experience | 2 |
| Healthcare and social services | 1 |
| Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience | 1 |
| Trades | 1 |
ITAs issued by draw type
IRCC had issued 85,067 invitations to apply through Express Entry in 2026 as of the article date.
| Draw type | ITAs issued |
|---|---|
| Canadian Experience Class | 41,250 |
| French-Language proficiency | 30,500 |
| Provincial Nominee Program | 5,405 |
| Healthcare and social services | 4,000 |
| Trades | 3,000 |
| Physicians with Canadian work experience | 662 |
| Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience | 250 |
The physician category remained small compared with Canadian Experience Class and French-language draws, but the June 24 round shows that IRCC has continued to use targeted occupation-based invitations alongside broader experience-based and language-based selection.
