Work permits
Work permit processing times fell slightly for applicants in Canada and the Philippines, but increased for Pakistan and Nigeria. Nigeria saw the largest rise, with processing time increasing from 8 weeks to 11 weeks.

How to read IRCC processing times
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada publishes processing times to give applicants an estimate of how long applications may take. These figures are guidance only and do not guarantee that a file will be finalized within the stated timeframe.
IRCC estimates fall into two categories:
- Historical estimates: based on past performance, showing how long IRCC has generally taken to finalize 80% of applications.
- Forward-looking estimates: based on current application volumes and processing capacity.
Service standards are different. They are internal targets for how quickly IRCC aims to process certain applications under normal conditions, generally with a goal of finalizing 80% of applications within the stated period.
Actual processing times can differ because of backlogs, operational limits, and case-specific factors. Some applications may be processed faster, while others may take longer.
Temporary residence processing times are updated weekly. Permanent residence and citizenship processing times are generally updated monthly. Temporary residence service standards have not changed since 2018–2019.
