Obtaining a second citizenship without physically traveling to the issuing country is possible through two main pathways.
Citizenship by investment
- Many island nations, particularly in the Caribbean, offer programs that can be completed entirely remotely.
- An authorized agent handles all due‑diligence and paperwork on the applicant’s behalf.
- After approval, the applicant wires the required investment funds; the agent then collects the passport and ships it to the applicant.
Citizenship by descent
- If you can claim ancestry in a country that allows citizenship through lineage, the process can be managed through the relevant embassy in your home country.
- You submit the necessary documents to the embassy, which processes the application and issues the passport without requiring you to travel to the country of origin.
Both routes eliminate the need for a personal visit to obtain the passport, though a brief trip may still be required for certain administrative steps or to fulfill residency requirements in some programs.
